BEN NORTH
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Ben established North Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd (NorthCE) following a long career of over 20 years with a large multinational engineering consultancy business (the last 5 years as NSW Managing Director). Ben is a Building Services Engineer with a working knowledge of detailed engineering design, project & design management and site based construction stage consulting and supervision.
Ben has extensive experience in the industrial/manufacturing, technology/IT, health and commercial office sectors.
Ben spent two years working in the UK on engineering designs and project management.
Ben has also provided numerous expert witness services in legal disputes, industrial accidents, variation claims and mediation.

JOHN NORTH
PROJECT DIRECTOR
John is an Electrical Engineer with broad based skills in power distribution, electrical controls and building services engineering. John has extensive professional experience in the provision of project direction and engineering design services.
John’s management skills have been developed over 30 years as a Director of various companies with considerable experience in strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, business management, finance, marketing and human resources.
As a Project Director of major developments, he has been responsible for cost control, programme, contract administration, quality & risk management and design management.
John has also provided numerous expert witness services in legal disputes, industrial accidents, variation claims and mediation.

STRUCTURAL
We design structures to ensure they stand up safely and are able to function in the face of excessive deflections or movements which may cause fatigue of structural elements, cracking or failure of fixtures, fittings or partitions, or discomfort for occupants.
EXPERT WITNESS
We report and audit complex matters, providing an opinion that services both the plaintiff or defendant depending on the matter at hand.
LIFTS & ESCALATORS
We place a high importance on not only the design and efficiency of lifts and escalators but also on rigorous safety testing and compliance.
MAINTENANCE AUDITS
We evaluate equipment data and spare parts. We advise on preventive maintenance programmes, maintenance management, improvement of work methods and planning. We then update drawings and operations and maintenance procedures.
FIRE
We identify risks and design safeguards that aid in preventing, controlling, and mitigating the effects of fires. We assist architects, building owners and developers in evaluating buildings' life safety and property protection goals.
CFD MODELLING
We model complex static and transient airflow, heat patterns and air velocity in buildings for better design of heat, air and space distribution.
BUILDING INSPECTIONS & REPORTS
We inspect and provide written accounts of a property's condition. We assess any significant building defects or problems such as rising damp, movement in the walls (cracking), safety hazards and other structural faults.
CONSTRUCTION SERVICES & COMMISSIONS
We focus on construction procedures, methods, costs, schedules and personnel management. Our primary concern is to deliver a project on time within budget and of the desired quality.
FEASIBILITY STUDIES
We carry out studies based on calculations and engineering analysis. The information is gathered to determine whether or not the project should be advanced to the final engineering and design stage.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS
We ensure reliable and available data centres, telephone exchanges, broadcast facilities, call centres and dealing rooms.
ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGEMENT
We plan and direct all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects. We manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs and approve changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project.
HYDRAULICS
We analyse fluid in motion, and the interactions between the flowing fluid and the surrounding environment. We focus on problems dealing with the collection, storage, control, transport, regulation, measurement, and use of water.
ELECTRICAL
We assess the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity as well as the design of a range of related components and equipment. These include transformers, electric generators, electric motors, high voltage engineering, and power electronics.
ENGINEERING FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
We support property owners and managers beyond the construction stage in areas such as life cycle planning & replacement, site handover and implementation documentation.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
We plan, develop and can implement your computer network and system services. We can also troubleshoot problems, document computer network behaviour, performance and security to ensure optimal performance.
MATERIALS HANDLING
We design and develop automated manufacturing and material handling systems to assist with movement and conveyance of specified material.
SECURITY
We test and screen security software and monitoring networks and systems for security breaches or intrusion. We supervise changes in software, hardware, and user needs. We help plan your organisation’s information security strategy.
ENERGY EVALUATION
We evaluate building design, with heavy consideration given to reduce energy loads and increase efficiency of the systems.
